They are playful, curious, highly social parrots. Many learn words and household sounds, and they thrive with predictable routines, safe exercise, daily interaction, and preventive avian care.

- Use a nutritionally balanced formulated diet as the foundation of the feeding plan.
- Offer vegetables, leafy greens, and other veterinarian-approved fresh foods.
- Limit seeds and treats; a seed-only diet is not nutritionally complete.
- Provide fresh water and clean dishes every day.
- Track appetite, droppings, body weight, and feather quality during dietary changes.
Behavior & environment
- Provide the largest practical safe cage with bar spacing no greater than about ½ inch.
- Offer varied perches, climbing opportunities, safe chewing toys, and foraging activities.
- Allow supervised exercise outside the cage and frequent social interaction.
- Maintain predictable sleep and protect against drafts, fumes, fans, open doors, and household hazards.
- Sudden withdrawal, aggression, inactivity, or vocal changes deserve evaluation.
